West Horsley

Landscape perspective

Ed Henson our Creative Director was called in as one of three different contractors invited to tender for a new garden build. I secured this build as my passion and enthusiasm for bringing the design to life was obvious for everyone to see.

With my extensive knowledge of construction and design, I was able to contribute significant enhancements to the overall pan. I took inspiration from the newly constructed vegetable garden at RHS Wisley taking the formality of this design and using it within mine.

I included a bespoke grand green oak pergola, extensive dry stone retaining walls punctuated with individual seating areas along with extensive newly planted areas.

The theme around this construction was to ensure that every element was cohesively linked by way of repetitive planting and colour pallets. This in turn created a garden which is both formal and relaxing in equal measure.

Maintenance perspective

Our maintenance at Wix Hill started during the landscape project and has continued all the way through and onwards since completion. It is great to see borders come to life throughout the summer, as the plants become established! From a maintenance perspective, there are many different areas which makes for a variety of tasks to keep the garden looking the way Ed intended, during design.

There is a transition from very manicured and groomed through to a wild area at the rear. Although it may not sound complex, a lot of thought has been had by the maintenance team to ensure that these areas are clearly separated but also flow as one throughout.
